As a Templar improves in skill and training, they would progress through a series of ranks, which denoted their standing within the Order. Starting from Recruit until Grand Master, recruits would improve in both weaponry and ability, learning either from mentors, or on the field. Though ranks were only strictly denoted in times when the Order was formally established, they were nevertheless implied at other times; roughly indicating a member's seniority in the Order. Upon being recruited into the Order, Templars began at the rank of Recruit. At this rank, they were required to obey all other members of the Order, and were not permitted any weapons. Thus, should they engage in a fight, they needed to either flee, or use their fists. At this point, they would usually only survey or gather information; at the most, only delivering any information of targets to higher-ranked members. As a Templar progresses in ranks they gain better armor and weapons, as well as fine-tune their skills in battle (footwork, etc.). It isn't until one is a Novice that they get their sword and first set of armor. To progress higher in ranks, one must complete missions as well as other tasks assigned to them by those of higher rank. The leader of the order has the sole job of promoting the lesser ranks based on their completing missions and such. (Missions and events will be created by the Brotherhood Leader in the special events category. In order for you to progress in ranks you must participate in them or otherwise 'earn favor' with the Brotherhood Leader through other means.)Below are the ranks of the order from lowest rank (Recruit) to the highest (Grand Master) RecruitAll beginning members start here an though can remain a recruit should it fit their character and that be their wish, members, after completing 5 missions (or receive 5 karma points) are able to progress to the next rank. As a recruit you have poor gear and no weapons and you are at the mercy of those higher up than you.
Kinsman/Kinswoman As a Kinsman/Kinswoman, members get their first Sword and set of leather armor, but nothing more (no crossbow, etc.). They can also command the recruits to gather information for them. To move to the Officer rank, a Kinsman/Kinswoman will need 10 Karma points. OfficerNow part of the order as an Officer, members can participate in harder missions and events and gain access to better armor and weapons as well as more advanced moves/attacks. Officers get their first set of mail armor as well as the option of one other weapon. They command those lower in rank than them but despite their rank, they are far from finished. To become the most feared of Templars, these members of the order need 20 karma points. Grand Master TemplarThe top dog as some may say, Grand Masters have mastered their skills and possess the best of armor of their time period. They gain access to the hardest of missions and events and the best upgrades available. Though there is no defined 'rank' above them, upon reaching 50 karma points they are candidates to be elected as a Templar Leader who basically serve as the elder of their group and are the "go-to's" to the others for knowledge, advice, tactics, etc. (Members must also fill out a short application as well)
