To upgrade your character, fill out this application and post in in this thread. A member of the staff will then come along and look it over, make sure you have enough karma points, and then reply to your profile with this updated information and your post here will be deleted to keep things neat.
You don't loose karma points when ranking up, unlike how your sync points work when purchasing items. You keep your karma points and then when you reach the next number to rank up again, re-post the template here and it's a rinse repeat. Again, YOU DO NOT LOOSE KARMA POINTS TO RANK UP.
Members can continue to RP when their rank up application is being looked over, but keep in mind the new abilities will not go into effect until AFTER the application is approved.
NOTICE: If you choose to play as a present-day character with a past life that is visited in the animus, you must add a 2nd application to the first (this means same thread, though these can be made in the same post, just make sure to be specific on which application goes to which character).
