Mission Rules Here's how missions go: A general 'mission' will be given for each rank. This happens roughly 1-3 times a month depending on what real-life happens (understand that coming up with 20 missions 3 times a month, that's 60 missions is a lot of work, so don't expect EXACTLY 3 missions every month). Members are then to create their own thread in their alliance's board and are to create a post telling a story of their character carrying out this mission. These can be as long as you want them to be, as the thread will only be you.
That's right, there is no member-to-member RP in missions. It is just you writing a short story of your character.
01. To put it simply, 1st ranks can only participate in 1st rank missions, 2nd ranks in 2nd rank missions, 3rd ranks in 3rd rank missions, 4th ranks in 4th rank missions, and 5th ranks in 5th rank missions. This is to keep things fair for those of lower ranks and keeps the lower ranks from doing anything to high.
02. Members can compete in any number of missions they want so long as it is for their rank. There is no limit to how many you can do. HOWEVER, you can only do one at a time. Meaning the first one you do, you must wait for a staff to read through and accept yours before you can move on to another as there is no "liquid' time in these missions. You do one at a time, and one only.
03. Members who have submitted a thread successfully are judged by the staff. This usually takes a day or two, depending on how many submissions there are and their length and are then rewards 1 Karma point for the mission. Members are then free to submit another DIFFERENT mission if there is one.
04. A minimum word count of 500 is required for missions. Considering you are only making a thread of your character, you are free to add in NPCs, etc. Members can add it other member's characters, BUT ONLY WITH THEIR PERMISSION. All submissions with other characters in them are automatically assumed to have been agreed to. If a problem arises, contact a staff member.
05. If a member is sitting at 4 Karma points from the past set of missions and gains 1 karma point in the new rotation the next month, that member must then wait until a new rotation of missions is put up before going into a new ranked mission.
06. Following from rule 05, if a member ranks their character up during that month, they basically become locked out of missions, so be careful. If you have a 1st ranked character with 4 karma points that gains 1 more point during a new rotation and rank them up to the 2nd rank during the same month, you can no longer participate in 1st ranked missions nor 2nd rank missions for that month and must wait until the next month's rotation comes around. However, if your character remains a 1st rank you are able to participate in the rest of that month's missions for 1st ranked characters. This means you can get more points and then when you've completed all the missions of your rank or just don't feel like doing anymore of them, you can rank up and then starting the next month can participate in the 2nd rank missions.

07. The highest amount of points a character can earn per thread is 2. This is up to the staff to make though and depends completely on how you execute your chosen mission. Things that go into consideration are:
Thought:
How much thought you put into the post in terms of how your character received the mission and how they carried it out. The more creative but BELIEVABLE, the better your chances of earning an extra point.
Grammar:
That's right. Grammar. Missions are not only designed to rank of your character, they are also designed to fine-tune your writing skills. The smoother each sentence and paragraph flows into the other, the better your chances will be of earning an extra point.
Imagery:
Use details! Lots and lots of details! Help us picture your character, where they are, what they see, how they're reacting to each situation. Pull our minds into yours, your character's, and the world they live in.
Length:
Bet you could guess this one. Our minimum word count is 500 for missions, but we encourage members to go further. 1000 words, 2000 words.... 5000 words! Whatever number you want, aim for it. The more effort you put into your post, the better your chances. Not to mention when you set a goal for amount of words and reach it in the end, you'll feel quite accomplished...
...or depending on how late/early it is you might want to tear my head off.
Event Rules Events are designed for all ranks, and rewards vary depending on the event. Most events will only offer synchronization points, but on rare occasions, a karma point or two can be offered. Even rarer occasions, an instant rank-up. Along with synchronization points, members may often win weapons, armor, or things for their homestead, this depends more on the character participating though, things like rank, how long the character as been active, if they have their own homestead... things like that.
Events are somewhat like missions and instead of being sorted by ranks, they're usually sorted by events that actually went on in each era. 01. Rewards vary between each event and will be stated in each staff thread hosting the event.
02. Like missions, there is no 'liquid time'. Again, this means only one event at a time, though there will usually only be one event up at any given time, so you don't have to worry too much on that.
03. Unlike missions though, events ARE member-to-member RP. The plot of each event is set up in the original thread along with the rules, etc. of each event and any and every member are welcomed to participate. There can be 2 members... or there can be 10 members in the thread.
04. This was a tough choice to make, but I've decided there will be no post order in events. This means that one member doesn't have to wait for a previous member to reply in order to how they went before. This allows characters to act in the moment instead of waiting for 1, 2, or even 5 other members to post. I understand this can also get a bit hectic if a member leaves for the day and comes back to 3 pages of text they have to read through and I ask members to be considerate. If you see that a member hasn't posted their reply in awhile (5 posts or so after their last) stop, and wait for them.
05. There is no word count for events. Nope, not even the 250 rule applies here. These can range from short 1-2 liners to 5 paragraphs or more, doesn't matter. Of course... we ask you DON'T do 1-2 liners, but we understand with other people around you, you may only want to reply to one particular thing instead of having to take EVERYONE'S post into consideration.
06. Events will often be split into parts. This means that an event will start out with one thread and one plot, and after the staff feel the members have achieved that plot or posts start to slow down, the 2nd part will be posted. Members can choose to stay in the 1st part or move on, it's up to them.
07. Rewards are handed out to each part, this means even if you don't participate in all of the parts, you'll still get something, but we want to encourage members to RP with others, this means that the further you go into the event, the bigger the prize. Each new part will have a new plot, rules, rewards, etc.
